Jimmy Braddock was nicknamed "Cinderella Man" because he was given a second chance like cinderella was in the fairy tale. His popularity rose with every fight he won, people began to look up to him as a role model, he gave back to the people. The "Hooverville" environment was a dirty, crime ridden place. It seemed to have people rebeling there even though most of them were just saving on rent. The cops were there in the film and it seem they had people getting killed by others. The film was very much like the lessons in class, the hooverville was as it was described and money was shown to be tighter then today. It was a harsh time as we learned and saw.

Jimmy Braddock recieved this name by fighting his way back to the top. Jimmy's popularity rose in the 1930s as he won fights that people thought he would lose. Once he won the world championship, people believed that anything was possible. The Hoovervilles in the film were violent and full of cardboard boxes. There were fires and people were always dying. some connections from the film were how people acted and saw the president. No one in the Depression liked Hoover and wanted him out of office. People were rallied outside the White House asking what Hoover was going to do.

The "Hooverville" in the movie looked like a war zone. It was cluttered and there were fires everywhere. There was screaming of women and men fighting and throwing up all over the place. And there were even dead bodies in the streets. Police were also beating some men for doing something, the shacks were made of paintings and boxes, and all in all, it was just chaos.

The connections from the movie to the lessons in class was the detail. In the movie, the cars were the same as in pictures that we have seen, and people were just living off of nothing which was mentioned many times in class. Exspecially the "Hooverville". The movie definatly showed what the enviroment in the Hoovervilles. In class, we really just said that they were shacks that we made of anything, but in the movie it showed what they were actually constructed out of.

I'll see you said...

Jimmy Braddock recieved his nickname, "Cinderella Man" because he made it from the bottom of the boxing world all the way to the top. His popularity rose due to him winning his fights and then beating the world champion. The Hooverville environment in the film was much worse than i would have thought it to be. It was dark and rough looking, people were crazy and fights were occuring.
Some connections would be the hoovervilles and the fact that people were selling everything they had for money.

He was named "Cinderella Man" because he started out with money for his family then during the Great Depression, his family went poor. Now, since he went back to boxing, he won a lot and got a lot of money back again.

He concieved the nickname, "Cinderella Man" because his story and whatnot was fairytale like. His popularity rose through the 1930's because he was good at boxing. The "Hooverville" environment was dirty and despressing. In the film everyone was poor and had little and in the lessons, everybody had little and was poor.

Jimmy Braddock was called Cinderella Man because he worked his way from the bottom to the top beating Max Baer to become Boxing Champion. Jimmy had just lose his boxing license

Jimmy Braddock received the nickname "Cinderella Man" because he came from a poor environment but when he began to win fights he became rich and his family didnt have any unpaid bills. His popularity rose because of him winning his fights against the greatest fighters in the division. The "Hoovervilles" were bad. They had cops every where, fires, fightings and it was a dark and unsafe place to be a family. The film and the lesson from what we learned connected because people had to sell there posessions in order for them to pay off their bills.

James J Braddock earned his nickname, Cinderella Man, from his seemingly fairytale like rise from a poor local fighter to the heavyweight boxing champion of the world. The environment shown in the film showed how the Hoovervilles envirment only

In my opinion, I believe that Jimmy Braddock was nicknamed "Cinderella Man" because he was given a second chance, and went from nobody to somebody, just like the Disney movie Cinderella. Braddock worked for everything he recieved; for the money, for the fame, and for the love from his family, friends, and fans. "Hoovervilles" weren't very environmental friendly, nor were they what you'd call your 'dream' community. They were places where folks went to save up money for their actual homes, even though, they were dirty, and unsanitary. Everything that I learned in class deffinetly helped me understand the movie, and made me realize what the Great Depression was all about.

I think that he got the name because he was poor, and he had nothing good but a job at the docks, and he started boxing and he fought his way to the top from all the way at the bottom. He became the world champ!!!

Jimmy Braddock was nicknamed "Cinderella Man" because he was given a second chance by the president of boxing and by the fans that loved him before. This is just like Cinderella when she was given that second chance. He became more popular when he started to win when he was a large under dog and with every fight he won his stock rose as a great and improved fighter. The "Hoovervilles" enviroment was like there was a bomb dropped in the area and left scraps of homes and objects. Many people were dying and just lying there just waiting to die because they lost all hope.Police did nothing for these people because they thought it was just hopeless. The film and the dicussions we had in class are similar because of many things. One thing that was very similar was the description of the hoovervilles and the acutal ones that we saw.One other thing that I saw was that almost every one was living on scarps and emergency relief and this is very harsh times. This was one of the worst times experienced in America.

Jimmy Braddock recieved his nickname "Cinderella Man" from him making a great comeback in the boxing world and earning amazing accomplishments and obstacles throughout his career. His popularity grew extremely through the years of him winning numerous fights against big contendors. The hooverville environment in the movie seemed to be very dangerous and dirty place. Lasty, the movie related a lot with our lessons in class because they were just like the lessons we were taught in class.

In my opinion Jimmy was given the name "Cinderella Man" because he was given another chance to prove himself just like the childrens character Cinderella. His popularity rose more and more thoughout every fight and everything he did. He was a rolde model for everybody. Learning about the Great Depression in class really helped me make connections thoughout the movie. Like how everybody had to sell everthing else they owned in order to pay for evryday household things.

I think that the movie covered alot about of stuff theat we learned. Jiummy and his family went through alot. He battle through losing his job and almost losing his kids. I think that he is named "Cinderalla Man" because he was very good and living it up but when his dreamed job died so did everything else but he got another chance to make it right.

In the story Cinderella, Cinderella was a person who had nothing and always work hard. Also Cinderella was a person like everyone else and got with a prince and became someone....This is the reason Jimmy Braddock was named, "Cinderella Man" because Jimmy use to have something but lost it all and now is a person who has nothing and worked really hard to get it back.He lost all of his money because he was a person who owned stock and he lost it all when black tuesday hit.He worked hard working at the docks like a normal person but also was a boxer to earn enough money for his family. Everyone liked him because he was just like everyone else just like in Cinderella thats why they call him Cinderella Man. A Hooverville was where was alot of crime really dirty people who abbonded there families where usually there. Most people there seem to rebeal alot against the president. Alot of people died in the hoover because of the violence and the crimes. The film was very much llike the lessons in class, the hooerville was as it was in class and showed the crim and how tight money was and how much people lost.It also showed the connection of the rough times and how people would do anything in the great deppresion.

"cinderella Man" was the nickname given to Jimmy Braddock because of his story. He had just about nothing and he worked as hard as he could to make a life. In the movie Cinderella, her deadline was 12:00, and I beleive Jimmy's "12:00 deadline" was his last fight before the comission let him go. He was having the time of his life and it slowly, but surely slipped away. His popularity rose beacause of one fight. It reminded me of when the prince brought Cinderella her shoe. It gave him some type of hope for a stable future. One fight led to another, and before he knew it, he was back to boxing. The "Hooverville" in the film just reminded me of a riot the police couldnt control. Everyone looked un-bathed and disease ridden. What we learned in class connected to the movie as in how the men were more depressed. Mike reminded me of this because he seemed to drink his pain away.

Jimmy Braddock Recieved his nickname, "Cinderella Man", because his horribe luck changed. During the great depression, Braddock had no money and it changed with an amazing "Good Bye" fight. In the 1930's, Braddock won his "Good Bye" fight. This made him want to get back in the ring badly. He started to get more and more matches every month, and a title offering in june. The Hoovervilles were a terrible enviroment to be living in. People argued over food, and space. No one there was happy at all. There was no electricity, or showers, or food. There was a connection to almost every thing we learned in history class. I learned about the Hoovervilles, and how every one struggled. The Men struggled to find jobs. The people that survived the Depression were lucky.

Jimmy Braddock received the name cinderella man because he was able to get a second chance. In the beginning he wasn't well known and was basically a nobody but then he began boxing again during the great depression and was able to support his family again. His popularity began to rise because he got back into boxing and started to win again. The hoovervilles were very poor and disasterous. There was alot of arguing and people getting hurt.

Jimmy Braddock was named "Cinderella Man" because he he went from the very bottom right to the top. In the beginning he had a hard time but in the end it was better. His popularity rose even more because no one thought that he would win but he did. Everyone thought that he would loose and he should just quite being a boxer.

Jimmy Braddock was called "Cinderella Man" because he started out poor and rose to the top, just like the princess Cinderella. Both Jimmy and Cinderella were given second chances too. Jimmy's popularity rose because he was winning fights against some of the best men in boxing and he had never been knocked out. The "Hooverville" was a very hectic messy place. the houses were poorly built and everyone seemed to be dirty. There were fires and police all over, and people were rushing from place to place. The "Hooverville" we talked about in class was just like the one in the movie. The way people acted and how poor people were in the movie was just like what we talked about in class.

James J. Braddock was nicknamed Cinderella Man because he went from being dirt poor to being the world champ. Which is kind of like how Cinderella went from being a maid to being a princess. Durring the 1930s he became more and more popular with every fight he won. The Hooverville environment shown in the movie was rundown and terrible just like we learned in class. Another thing that was similar in the movie to what we learned in class was when mike and jimmy were talking about the new deal and FDR in the bar.

James J braddock earne the name cinderella man because he was so low in poverty then he rose up so quickly back to where he started. He was looked at as a joke when he started to box again. then they started to notice him more and started realizing that he was actually a good fighter. The hooverville environment in the film was exactly how it said in the history book. it was dirty, filthy and all the houses were bunched together and made out oof cardboard. Also there were many fights in the hoovervilles and people were also being killed! It was a harsh time for everyone not just middle class and poor people.

Jimmy Braddock was nicknamed the, Cinderella Man, because just like cinderalla jimmy had a lot of hardships then he rose to the top by winning the boxing Championship. He became very popular because of his success with him going from a injured boxer who was barely getting be to a great boxer. Hoovervilles in the movie was displayed just like we learned by being a sad dirty place. Also the movie and our lesson went together because they both showed what people went throgh.

Jimmy Braddock was nicknamed Cinderella Man because he went from having a good life just like cinderella to having a terrible life like when she had to live with her step mother. he had to work hard to get back to the top and have a good life. cinderella had to to go through some tough times also to get to marry the prince.

Jimmy was nicknamed Cinderella Man because he was in a poor situation like Cinderella was and then had his moment which changed his life back to normal, like it did for Cinderella when she met Prince Charming. His popularity rose when he fought that one fight. Then his second chance was offered and he was winning fight afer fight. He was the champion which made him popular. Hooverville looked really crowded with poorly built houses and fire. It was bad looking & there was fighting. It was a little worse than I pictured it, but the movie made it clearer after learning it in class. I also seen in the movie how bad poverty actually was and hard it was to get a job. I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally liked the movie and I wanna see it again.

Jimmy Braddock was nicknamed "Cinderella Man" because like in the fariy tale Jimmy went from being a poor boxer to the heavy weight champ of the world. In the movie Hoovervilles were worse than how we were told in class disscussions.

Jimmy Braddock was nicnamed Cinderella man because he was given a second chance. just like in the fairy tale. The environment in the Hoovervilles were very dirty they were living in cardboard boxes, there were cops everywhere people were dying, run over by horses, and getting beaten up. Jimmy braddock was nick named cinderella man because he danced around the ring and lost one of his glass slippers before running away from his date. just kidding.

he was nicknamed cinderella man because of how he got a second chance at a good life after being poor.

he recieved the nickname "cinderella man" by his trainer Joe. i think Joe called him this because he is a wonderful inspiration to people and he never gave up no matter how hard things got in life. his popularity rose in the 1930s by him starting to win boxing matches more often and not dying when he fought Mike. The hoovervilles were terrible. They were lit on fire and people were fighting and killing eachother. Most of the hoovervilles had broken windows and evrything was horrible. Connections fronm the movie and lessons learned in class were that there was hoovervilles but in a different state. Also many people went poor even the rich and married women didnt work. For the men they had to line up for jobs and hey were imbrassed to ask others for money.

well jimmy braddock got his nickname "cinderella man" because he got another chance like she did in the movie. He got his nickname also because he went from the poor like her, to the riches like she did.He began to get popular with each fight, and because he gave back to the people. The hooverville was a dirty place, there were people getting robbed there, people getting beat up and people getting killed there almost everyday. It was a horrible place to be in, but most people didnt have the choice not to live there.

Cinderella man was Jimmy braddcoks nickname in the movie. They gave him this nickname because he went from boxing to keep electricty on for his family to survive, to fighting and becoming the national champion. His populairty rose because he could relate to everyone going through the deppression. He had stocks, had money and a nice house, and lost it all. He gave americans that were suffering hope that things will get better.

The hoovervilles were the lowest of low during the depression. During the movie it showed how the place was. Fires were starting everywhere because of the shacks the people lived in, there were riots and deaths of children, women and men. People only cared about themselves, and did anything because they were desperate. Even when the police tried to help they faught back against them too.

I think that James Braddock and his family were strong through the hard times and then one day James got a second chance to change his life for good. He would have money to pay the bills. He was getting beat in his matches until he thought about his family and he realized that he had to win to make the money.

Jimmy Braddock was nicknamed "Cinderella Man" because he had a second chance to become a boxer again. Also when he came back the second time he started to win and it was unbelievable to the fans and his bosses. Jimmy's popularity grew when he won his fights when he came back and he also became peoples inspiration when he won the fight to become first contender at the title. Hoovervilles where filthy places where people lived when they didnthave anywhere else to go. Also that's where Jimmy found Mike when he came home from one of is fights and when he got to the hoovervilles Mike was dead. Hoovervilles were also places where crimes mostly started because cops didnt want them there.

Jimmy Braddock got the nickname "cinderella man" because like cinderella he got a second chance. His popularity rose by winning in fights and giving poeple hope. The hooverville was a dangerous place and it was very bad place to live. In class i learned that men left their wives and divorced them. In class we said hoovervilles were like cardboard boxes and in the movie it showed a hooverville in detail.

James Braddock was nicknamed cinderella man because he was given a second chance at life. After he was fired from boxing he worked down at the docks. Then when his manager got him a fight he had a great comeback,he won the match and the crowd started to like him again. The Hoovervilles were dark and gloomy. People were desperate and became crazy after living in unstable conditions for a long period of time.

Jimmy Braddock's nickname is Cinderella Man because of the way he came back from nothing. He was poor and injured and couldn't win a fight, but when he got a fight and won it was considered his second chance at a better life.Everyone also doubted him, they thought that he wouldn't win and when he started to win he gained fans and popularity. The Hooverville was in central park, but there was nothing good about it! It was dirty, dangerous, and for people who were very desperate for life. The events depicted in this movie were very similar to what we discussed in class.

Jimmy Braddock recieved the nickname "Cinderella man" because he given a second chance to prove the man he was. Also because he really cared about his family and how much he really need that job to support his love ones. Jimmys population grew more and more over the year. Jim was just fighting for a living then it just turned into a real life career and became the world heavy weight champ. the Hoovervilles were very poor people living in the New York City. The people didn't have money and few clothes. As we were learning about this in class I thought this was just not as bad as the movie. It didn't look like I pictured it in the book. As I was watching the movie I realized that it was hard back than to survive just on a little money.

Jimmy Braddock was called "Cinderella Man" because he had nothing and life wasn't going well for him but then everything turned around and he rose up. Throughout the 1930's he was able to win fights and gained his popularity back. He then won the championship which topped it all off. The Hoovervillr in the film was dark and scary. It was located in central park. The way it looked in the film was just how it was described in the book. It just had a little more detail. It was filled wiht desperate people and people who had just given up on life. Most of the people there if not all hated Hoover too.

James Braddock aka Cinderella Man got this nickname from his will to keep strong. the nickname cinderella man was givin i believe because yes its backwards he went from riches to rags but he soon changed everything for the best and went from rags to riches. Jim Braddock had a wonderful life boxing and was good at it but sadly he broke his hand in which held his career back for awhile. this took jim braddock from a wonderful life in a nice home to a poor {ghetto} home. you can call jimmy braddock the come back kid, really because he wasnt heard of really after his fight when he broke his hand. but one time years later his hand was well and he was offered a oppertunity to get into the ring again. jimmy excepted this and won that first fight { the first in a long time}. after he won many fights more and more people were cheering on and supported braddock.he soon won the championship in which many people thought he would loose but HE WON! so after he won the championship everyone knew who the boxer jimmy braddock. hooverville's were a poor ghetto clutter of beat down homes where many people who had no job lived. a very scary place. this video really hit with the depression you really see the true story of some people in the this time and what many of them went through. i hate boxing but this movie was good!

James Braddock was nicknamed "Cinderella Man" for a few reasons. One reason is because he made it to the top, coming from a poor place starting at nothing. Another reason is because he was sort of like the hero, especially in the boxing world. With any fight that he won, he gradually became more popular. He made the newspapers once he was in big fights and he became more known to the people. The "Hooverville" located in Central Park in New York was horrible. Desperate people lived there because they couldn't afford rent. The "Hoovervilles" were dangerous places. Fires oftenb broke out and many accidents occured here. We have learned about the Great Depression in class, and the movie was much like the lessons. The "Hoovervilles" in the movie were a lot like what were described in class. Many people struggled and employment rates dropped. People fought for work each day, just as we had discussed in lessons during class.

about the hoovervilles... they were really dirty.they were also very chaotic people dying, people stealing...everybody was desperate to take care of their families. if it was me back then i would have done the same thing if it came down to it. when we studied about hoovervilles in the book it didn't say they were that bad. all it said was that they were dirty disorganized and made of cardboard.

Cinderella Man was a good movie to show how bad the Great Depression was. It seemed pretty accurate with the "hoovervilles" and how Jimmy was living well to living on pennys. Theft was apparntly popular back then also. People were begging for there appliances such as gas and electric and this video was a good way to end the Great Depression chapter.

Jimmy Braddock was named Cinderella man by the press because of the story he had to overcome to get out of the gret depression. He had to work at the docks and get some boxing matches to get money for his family. His popularity rose when he really needed the money and he wanted greatly to get out of the great depression. He is lucky that he didn't end up living in the Hoovervilles like his friend Mike. The Hoovervilles were very bad conditions. I wouldn't want to live here, but most people had to and did what they had to and didn't care if they died. Mr. Contipodero told us about most of the stuff about the great depression in class or in our books for homework.

Jimmy Braddock recieved his nickname "Cinderella Man" because he was given a second chance like Cinderella was given in the fairy tale movie. James popularity rose within him winning the fights in the 1930s. He was a nice guy with his winnings he gave back and more to the relief center. The "Hooverville" enviroment was very contaminated. There was rubbish everywhere. People were dying everyday there. The film was very like the lesson we learned in class. The "Hooverville" was stated the same just like the debri everywhere. The people were alot like the ones in the movie, the people were getting evicted, the bills not paid ant mothers sending their children away to protect them. The fathers doing all they can do to make money and find work to pay for the bills and suppport their families. This movie and the lesson was good to teach us to know how hard it was back in the day and for people who think its hard now they have it good compared to the Great Depression .

"Hooverville" was just as disasterious in the movie as it was in real life, people living in boxes, people who wanted to get back at hoover, and just people with nothing left. Laslty one of the major connections between the movie and and actual events is everyone was hurt by the depression
no matter what class you were, and most important families were torn apart because of the depression.

Jimmy Braddock got the nickname "Cinderella Man" because he had lost everything and then he got a second chance. In life that never really happens and you dont get second chances but it was like a fairy tale. The people of the country started to look up to him as he started to win more and more fights.
